Kourtney Kardashian’s Tips for Designing the Ultimate Kids’ Rooms



Kourtney Kardashian’s new house in Calabasas, California, marks a new chapter in the life of the enterprising reality-television star and her three young children: six-year-old Mason, three-year-old Penelope, and baby Reign. “I was ready for something a bit more sophisticated and grown-up than my last house. But above all, it had to be family-friendly,” Kardashian says, summarizing the brief she gave to decorator Martyn Lawrence Bullard. “This is the place where my kids will open Christmas presents and celebrate birthdays. I wanted them to feel like we were embarking on a wonderful new adventure.” Kardashian describes her children’s rooms as works in progress that will evolve along with the kids and the memories they create in their new domain. “This process is not about making a design statement,” she insists. “It’s about crafting spaces that foster a sense of wonder and discovery and at the same time make the kids feel totally secure and comfortable.” Architectural Digest caught up with the dashing dynamo in between shoots for Keeping Up with the Kardashians to find out more about her philosophy and approach to decorating. Here, she shares her prescription for conjuring kids’ rooms guaranteed to enchant and inspire.
